There are lots of things that are looking different in the territory of Bollywood’s biggest entertainer no.1. No price for guessing that it is the lovable and favourite of all Govinda. He has lost weight over the span of time and is looking gung ho about his forthcoming arrivals. What’s the best way of getting notice then accolades pouring on him for his every performance in second innings like ‘Bhagam Bhag’ and ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ and now the new hit ‘Partner’ going his credit. We talk to him about the film and more.
Excerpts from an Interview:
What is Partner all about?
After long I’ve got to do a full-fledged comedy and I’m very happy with the way the film has shaped up. The credit for making such a great film rests on the shoulders of director David Dhawan. After long our team is coming together again with this film. He has offered me a great role. My role is so important in the film that it hardly looks like a Salman's home production.
Bhagam Bhag was also considered to be a big film of yours but in the end product Akshay Kumar ate up most of the crucial scenes. Comment.
It is not true and I consider I got a fair deal with that film too. I’m passed over such things and don’t let myself ponder over those issues. I’m all set with a positive frame of mind and want to do my best. It was a successful film and that’s what matters to me. I started my second innings with this film and that is most important thing for me. Also working with Nikhil Advani for Salaam-e-Ishq was satisfying because he allowed me to perform at my will without letting me go overboard.

Both of us had a mutual admiration and respect from long back but it is now open and coming to screens now. He has become a friend and family now for me. On Salman’s recommendations I’m also going for a new hair transplant. I’m planning to go for it in September. I will not be shooting then and have kept my dates aside for it. Salman's doctor will to come to Dubai to perform the surgery.
Workouts have helped you to look fit and young onscreen. How did you manage that?
I had put on lots of weight and just sometime back I weighed 107kilos. Everyone in family and outside started insisting that I lose weight and people began to pester me about it. I got a gym built in my home with hi-tech machines and would exercise for two hours every day, followed by yoga for 30 minutes. I do skipping a lot and am on the treadmill for half hour. Also I’m taking care of my diet. I’ve managed to cut down 22 kilos of weight and now I’m 85 kilos and striving to become 75 kilos.
What are your forthcoming films?
There is one film with David Dhawan, Sohail Khan and another film with Ravi Chopra.

Money never comes between us and that is the kind of relationship that we share. He is a very loving chap and recently gifted my wife Sunita a Mercedes. We are also talking about how to increase my remuneration in the coming days. For his next production with David Dhawan he is paying me Rs. 1.5 crores. I believe I’m getting the price that I’m due.
Does your children have plans of joining films?
My daughter Narmada does want to become an actress. As of now for sometime she’ll be assisting Rakesh Roshan. She wants to learn the intricacies of filmmaking and begin her career from the very start. Yash also wants to become an actor and I’ll take care to train him.
