Director Imtiaz Ali’s next film in the pipeline after ‘Socha Na Tha’ is Shahid-Kareena starrer ‘Jab We Met’ produced by Dhilin Mehta under the prestigious banner of Shri Ashtavinayak Cine Visions. The story breezes around two young souls, Aditya (Shahid Kapur) and Geet (Kareena Kapoor) who hitchhike through half of India's map before realizing they've been hit by love. Aditya is the successor of a huge business empire but to his utter dismay his sinking business brings him no riches but despair. Even the girl whom he loves is getting married to somebody else. Struck by grief and failure, Aditya drifts out of the gathering and aimlessly boards a train, leaping away into the darkness of the night.But as already destined, he stumbles upon Geet – a Punjabi voluble beauty who too has boarded that train to go back to her hometown Bhatinda. Later she has plans to abscond with her boyfriend. She is a vivacious young girl full of life and plans and talk.
On the way, Geet gets on Aditya’s nerves to the point that he simply leaves the train. As she tries to get him back on the train, she finishes up missing it and the two find themselves marooned on a bleak station with no belongings or cash.

And from here begins their odd expedition that will take them through many highs and lows till they finally land up in her house in Punjab. But mistakenly Geet’s family confuses Aditya as her paramour. But before all the qualms are cleared, Geet elopes with her boyfriend in Manali with Aditya’s assistance. But her family thinks that she has eloped with Aditya. Meanwhile, Aditya gathers up the strength to return back to his business.

Luck favors Aditya this time and he begins yielding good profits. But one day accidentally, he encounter’s Geet family members in the city who think that their girl is with Aditya and are dumbfounded after knowing the truth. Aditya goes out searching for her till he discovers her in a Himalayan town bereaved by her boyfriend. And from here begins another journey that brings them together forever.
